I was probably about 5 or 6 when I got my first look at Jareth, The Goblin King.
He was weird, he was sparkly, he was powerful. He was calm, cool, and collected. He had dominion over scary things, used great big words and flew away as a fabulous owl when he’d taken the situation too far.
I wanted to talk like him, dress like him, and I wanted to be fearless and ruthless and musical just like him.
So I guess David Bowie’s flawless portrayal of Jareth set me on the path to Neutral Evil at a very young age?
Then when I got a little older, I found out my favourite fantasy “villain” was actually a brilliant musician.
Growing up, everything I learned about this guy just continued to awe and inspire me.
I’ll be back. I swear, there’s more. . . .
